Edwin Harris a pre war regular soldier was serving in India when war broke out. Wounded in the knee in June 1915. Edwin was transferred to the Labour Corps as a result of these Injuries. Residing at Buckingham Street in Dublin, Edwin was a keen member of Glasnevin Football Club.
Glasnevin Football Club, one of the oldest football clubs in Ireland, was founded in 1881 by workers from Glasnevin Cemetery. Hence the nickname ‘The Diggers’.
